Hey everyone!
Can you sing a song, start to finish, without stopping or making a mistake? It's a fun challenge, isn't it? As tango dancers, we often hear about the importance of musicality, but one important thing we're missing is a real connection to music in our daily lives.
When I ask my students to name their favorite song, many struggle to come up with an answer. It's difficult to dance with passion when we don't feel passionately about the music we're dancing to. That's why I want to share my tip for improving musicality and enhancing dance pleasure: listen to music actively and regularly. Just listen!
Let the orchestras of Canaro, D'Arienzo, Pugliese, Di Sarli, Tanturi, D'Agostino, Donato, Biagi, and so many others intoxicate you with their music. You don't need to have any specific goals, just listen and let the music take you on a journey.
And don't forget, we all adore The Beatles' "Yesterday" not because we comprehend the song's intricate structure or complex chord progression, but because it touches our hearts so beautifully when we hear it. Right?
