Tango Surprises: Finding Connection in Unexpected Tandas
I had an interesting tanda experience at milonga El Rodriguez on Wednesday! I invited a lady to dance that I hadn't danced with before and it turned out to be one of the most memorable tandas I've had in a while.
At first, I was a bit confused when she greeted me by saying "What am I going to do with you?" But it quickly became clear that she was nervous about dancing with me. I reassured her that we were there to enjoy ourselves and that I always adapt my dancing to my partner.
During the tanda, we worked together to adjust to each other's styles and timing, and by the end, we had found a great connection. After the dance, I could tell by the smile on her face and the kiss she gave me on the cheek that we had both thoroughly enjoyed the dance.
It's moments like these that remind me why I loved tango in the first place. It's not just about the steps or the technique; it's about the connection and the communication that happens on the dance floor.
So, the next time I go to a milonga, I'll try to dance with someone I've never danced with before. I'll never know what kind of magic could happen on the dance floor if I don't try.
