Welcome to the Tango Zen Workshop.  This workshop, is for everyone, even if you do not know how to dance Tango or how to  Meditate.
 

It's a journey of mindfulness that is tied to the Argentine Tango's rich tradition and its emotional music. Our program offers a unique journey that combines the calmness of meditation with the passionate art of Argentine Tango. 

 

We integrate the peace of meditation with exercises inspired by Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and Chakra. 

Now, you can dance Your Way to Peace, Mindfulness, and Well-Being.

Tango Meditation Workshop

Since the 2005 release of the book "Tango Zen: Walking Dance Meditation," the Tango Zen Workshop has reached over 24 countries. This includes sessions at renowned meditation and wellness centers like the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies and Kripalu in the USA, as well as Benediktushof – Center for Meditation and Mindfulness in Germany.

The workshop series consists of two introductory sessions, followed by an advanced workshop open to those who have completed the introductory level or have instructor approval.

Class 1: from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM

"Body Moves, Mind Flows"
Immerse in Zen meditation practices and attune your breath and posture to embody mindfulness. Experience the profound connection between your dance partner, the music, and yourself, transcending beyond dance steps to achieve a Zen-like state of unity.

Class 2: from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
"First Embrace and First Step - Two Bodies, One Heart"
Uncover the essence of Tango through the lenses of mindfulness. Engage in exercises that enhance body awareness, facilitating a deeper, intuitive connection with your dance partner and the music. Learn to center, balance, and adapt your movements to different rhythms, harmonizing your mind and body. 

Guided Practica:
from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they've learned in the classes, engaging in dance as a form of relaxation and enjoyment while connecting with fellow participants.

Sunday, March 24 & April 7, 2024

Class 3: from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM

"The Art of Pause"
Embrace stillness within motion in Tango. We delve into the significance of pauses and how mindful breathing can transform your dance experience. Engage in mindfulness exercises aimed at finding joy and connection in these pauses, adding depth to your Tango journey.

Class 4: from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
"Dancing Tango with Eyes Closed"  
Unleash your inner senses in Tango. Uncover different perspectives of viewing your dance through inner 'eyes'. This class explores the sensory elements of Tango and uses meditation techniques to enhance your ability to truly feel the dance, bringing a new depth to your dance experience. 

Guided Practica: from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they've learned in the classes, engaging in dance as a form of relaxation and enjoyment while connecting with fellow participants.

Advanced Workshop

Saturday, April 20

Class 1: from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM

"Tango Mind, Beginner's Mind"
This session integrates the principles of mindfulness with Tango, emphasizing the importance of breath, posture, and an intuitive connection. Participants will delve into a mindful dancing experience that promotes a harmonious blend of mind, body, and rhythm.

Class 2: from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
"Discovering the Rhythmic Unity and Resonance in Dance"
Begin with pendulum and Infinity Chakra exercises, followed by Tai Chi/Pushing hands exercises. These activities are designed to foster a profound energy exchange between dance partners, enhancing the dance experience.

Guided Practica: from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they've learned in the classes, engaging in dance as a form of relaxation and enjoyment while connecting with fellow participants.

Sunday, April 21, 2024

Class 3: from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM

"Refining the Dance of Communication and Connection"
Focus on the art of expressing clear intentions through subtle movements. This class emphasizes a concentrated yet fluid energy exchange, enriching the joy and essence of each dance movement.

Class 4: from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
"Doing Less and Enjoying More"  
Explore minimalism in Tango through concepts like inner bliss, internal elegance, and decluttered moves. This approach to continuous refinement and personal expression aims to amplify the pleasure and depth of your dance experience.

Guided Practica: from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they've learned in the classes, engaging in dance as a form of relaxation and enjoyment while connecting with fellow participants.
